Mr. Wright's testimony about Smitty and the awesome work at Sportatorium I is humbling. The fact is that Smitty has dedicated himself towards helping athletes, from coaching wrestling to sponsoring baseball teams. Smitty lives in the Ohio Valley and has done all he can to better the area. By locating Sportatorium II in downtown Steubenville, OH, Smitty has sent a strong message. The message is that downtown Steubenville is undergoing a major revitalization and Smitty has gone "All In" on this re-birth of a city, which has long struggled to find its way.
With 28% of people in poverty in Steubenville and over 60 vacant buildings within the 12-block downtown area, this journey is going to be tough but that's wrestlers live for! Along the journey, we positioned wrestling as our anchor with other sports like basketball, football and soccer circling around it. Our goal is to make ALL of the sports at Sportatorium II world-class, just as wrestling has become in the Ohio Valley within OH, PA and WV.
