Sportatorium (Pronounced Sport - A - Tore- Eum). Defined as a future destination experience in downtown Steubenville, OH for the benefit of Ohio Valley Residents interested in healthy living via fun sports, activities and events. Projected for 2015 Grand Opening with celebrities after $300,000 is raised via a multi-pronged fundraising approach. Currently planting seeds and growing the Network of Sportatorium Friends who share their Time, Talent and Treasure for the Sportatorium (operated by Smitty's Wrestling Club, Inc.; 501c3 Nonprofit).
The Sportatorium in Steubenville, OH, while being renovated, has already produced winners. These are not just winners in terms of achieving great heights in sports but also great heights in character and citizenship. With over 10,000 kids having been coached and mentored by me in wrestling over the years, the Poster Child for our mission with the Sportatorium is Devin Brown.
As we continue to create a Network of Sportatorium Friends sharing their Time (volunteer), Talent (professional insights) and Treasure (monetary contributions, in-kind gifts) to bring this new Community Center to life, I ask that you keep Devin in mind. Here's a kid who grew up in the projects, in poverty and without wrestling may very well have lived a life on the streets. But with wrestling and with other sports as well, we can reconnect with downtown Steubenville youth and other children in the Ohio Valley to produce an Awesome Destination Experience in the Sportatorium (ADES).
In the Sportorium, hard work, positive behavior and focused effort produce winning results in character and citizenship. In the Sportatorium, EVERY kid can have their dreams come true!

STEUBENVILLE - The first time Mike Smith saw a young Devin Brown walk into his gym, he flipped. Actually, it was Brown who flipped; but it was Smith who gasped at the potential of the undersized 8 year old.
"The first day he showed up, he was able to do a backflip," said Smith, owner of the SmittyFloors.com Sportatorium on the corner of Market and Fifth streets in downtown Steubenville. "I knew he had crazy athleticism."
