What Will We Do With Our Indoor Pool At The Sportatorium?

This is the swimming pool in the old Catholic Community Center in Steubenville, OH. This Community Center will be back in working order as the Sportatorium, operated by Smitty's Wrestling Club, Inc (501c3 Nonprofit). The vision for the Sportatorium is for folks in Steubenville and the Ohio Valley (population = 847,000) to have fun Sports, Activities and Events.

What do you see when you look at the above picture of the indoor pool in our facility? You see a pool that is not in good shape. It's dirty, messy and clearly is not ready for a "belly flop."

What do we see when we look at this pool? We see opportunity. We see the ability to fill the pool in and insert sports on a turf field. Once the pool is filled in, we could have all indoors sports operational year round. These sports would include but not be limited to the following:

1. Flag Football - Imagine the Sportatorium Youth Flag Football League with teams battling in a 5-on-5 play as they charge towards the Championship.
2. Soccer - Envision 5-on-5 games within the Sportatorium Youth Soccer League, with teams fighting for a shot at winning Smitty's Championship Cup.
3. Baseball - Picture yourself as a baseball coach and you're looking for a facility to train. Look no further than the Sportatorium because we will be the place with batting cages, fielding and simulated real-game play.
4. Golf - Not quite sure where to go to strengthen your putting and chipping? That's okay because we will have designated space for these activities within the converted indoor pool area. We'll have you at your best by the time you hit the links.

Our ability to make a difference as the Ohio Valley Community is at hand. We have an amazing building that will provide service across our Valley. The indoor pool renovation is just one area within our 22,000sqft center where Sports, Activities and Events will begin to transform our collective mindset towards imagining amazing possibilities for our entire community.

How might you help with ensuring the Sportatorium comes to life by year end 2015? We have lots of opportunities. Our Sportatorium Friends share their:

1. Time - They volunteer for renovation projects like painting the gymnasium.
2. Talent - They provide our leadership team with insights on legal, IT, fundraising, etc...
3. Treasure - They donate money or in-kind gifts like laptops for our administrative functions.
