The Sportatorium in Steubenville, OH will serve 800,000+ people in the historic Ohio Valley. This old Catholic Community Center and future home of the Sportatorium continues to be renovated by the 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Smitty's Wrestling Club, Inc. Renovation helps with Smitty owning his own business; Smitty's Floors. With Jeb's help, Smitty renovated the old ballroom, pictured above, with laminate ceiling tiles, floor enhancements, fresh paint and much more.
The benefit of all of this renovation is that kids from around Steubenville and the Ohio Valley will experience awesome coaching as they pursue their wrestling dreams. In partnership with USA Wrestling, the Sportatorium will be the premier location for all things wrestling, from practices with top tier coaches to participation in tournaments around the region. For years, Smitty has been hosting wrestling camps as well. With a Wrestling Room, literally the size of a ballroom, the Sportatorium will easily accommodate multi-team wrestling camps. And, a short walk away, Smitty will have dorm-style rooms, with counselor supervision for the complete camping experience. Sportatorium Summer Team Wrestling Camp information will be posted soon.
Recognizing that wrestling is the "anchor sport" of the Sportatorium, it's important to understand that Smitty's has already worked with over 10,000 wrestlers as a mentor and coach. His track record of success is the best kept secret in the Ohio Valley. Stellar wrestlers who came up through the ranks with Smitty in the coaching chair include 3x PA State Wrestling Champion Devin Brown, along with many state qualifiers, college graduates and citizens across the country. As the USA Wrestling Olympic Regional Training Center within the current Sportatorim, Smitty has successfully engaged top wrestlers/coaches like Cael Sanderson. Cael was 159-0 at Iowa State University, won Olympic Gold and has coached Penn State Wrestling to 4 National Championships.
As the journey of the Sportatorium continues forward, there are additional exciting opportunities to consider. For instance, what if the Sportatorium hosted a USA Wrestling sanctioned event featuring David Taylor and Jordan Burroughs? What if there was a wrestling match between Jordan Oliver and Tony Ramos, sponsored by Flo Wrestling? Truth is that Smitty's Sportatorium has a gymnasium and will have the equipment/resources to have these big name wrestling matches. How many wrestling clubs anywhere in the country can say that they have the capacity, networks and know-how to have some of the best wrestlers in the World compete against each other in the Sportatorium's gymnasium? The answer is none, only the Sportatorium.
Now, let's take this a step further. The reality is that Smitty's passion is wrestling and again, wrestling is the anchor for the Sportatorium. However, Smitty's passion goes beyond wrestling to helping kids. Smitty wants to help kids fulfill their dreams in whatever sport, activity or event is their individual calling. That's the Smitty Advantage and one that he also brings to Smitty's Floors; one size doesn't fit all and the customized experience makes the difference in delivering a meaningful experience.
